Playtech Announces Two Major Online Casino Deals

Playtech is one of the leading online gaming software providers catering to online casinos, poker rooms and bingo halls. This week Playtech has announced licensing agreements with two major online gaming operators.

One of these operators is Betfair, which is one of the largest online betting exchanges in the world. Betfair has a multi-million Euro global business. Under the licensing agreement Playtech will provide Betfair with its downloadable online casino software. This software will be completely integrated with the instant play software that Betfair currently offers. The download casino games will be offered to Betfair exclusively by Playtech. Hence the customers at Betfair will have an expanded range of online casino games to wager at once the deal is made operational. Playtech will also supply its online bingo software to Betfair TV, which is Betfair’s free-to-air interactive gaming platform.

Both Playtech and Betfair expressed satisfaction at the finalization of the deal. Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer of Playtech, welcomed Betfair to its licensee network. He added, “Betfair’s decision to enter into this license agreement with Playtech is a significant endorsement of Playtech’s market leading gaming products and this partnership exemplifies our strategy of rapidly expanding our licensee base with tier one operators across all markets.” Niall Wass, Managing Director of Betfair International, said that they chose Playtech because Playtech is a market leader and produces software that is at the cutting edge of gaming technology. He added that Betfair looks forward to working with Playtech, which would provide a new gaming experience for their customers. Playtech Limited is quoted on the London Stock Exchange. Gaming Intelligence reported that the shares of Playtech rose by more than 10% as soon as this deal was made public.

The second gaming operator with whom Playtech had announced a deal a few days earlier was ChiliPoker. Up to now ChiliPoker was a sub licensee of Playtech, operating through one of its direct licensees. With this agreement ChiliPoker becomes a direct licensee of Playtech. This deal recognizes the growth that ChiliPoker has achieved in the last few years. Playtech also benefits from the deal because of the position that ChiliPoker enjoys in the French online gaming market. The French market is all set to be opened up and regulated in January 2010. Playtech can now establish a presence in that new market through ChiliPoker. ChiliPoker has signed a deal with ‘Free’, which is the second largest Internet service provider in France. ChiliPoker has also signed a three year deal with World Poker Tour to set up televised events in Marrakech. This deal with ChiliPoker is a part of Playtech’s strategy to diversify into newly regulated markets with the help of local operators.
