Introduction to Video Poker
Video Poker is one of the most misunderstood games in the casinos today. People that don't know Video Poker often mistake it for a poor cousin of slot machines. The truth is a long way from this. Video Poker is only similar to slots because they are both seen on a screen, and that's where the similarities end.
Video Poker is played just like normal poker, but with one big exception. You need to get a hand containing at least a certain rank to be get paid out. Most machines work that the minimum of a pair of Jacks or better. The better your hands are, the more you get paid. Some of the more modern machines allow you the ability to play multiple games at once, with some machines letting you play up to 1000 hands at a time!
Video Poker is one of the easier games to pay at the casino, and because of that, a lot of people love to play Video Poker regularly.
Video Poker Rules
The rules of video poker are simple. Normally you have to have a hand that holds at least a pair of Jacks or better, but be sure to read the payout table on your machine to make sure of what you are paid out on that machine.
You are dealt five cards into your hand. You then choose which cards to keep, and which to discard. The best rule is that unless you have winning cards in your hand, throw the lot away and try for something better. Some people will keep lower pairs, or single picture cards
When you have decided which cards that you want to keep, your discarded cards are removed and your hand is filled back up to five cards with new cards. This is your final hand and if you've got a hand that ranks high enough, you win. It's that easy.
